The negotiations include both negotation over lubicon land rights (for which there was an agreement near the turn of the century, which the government then neglected to sign), and negotation over Alberta's insistence on building a giant sour gas processing plant -- not only on land claimed by the lubicon nation, but almost on top of the lubicon native reserve residential site.
Since the lubicon are in a very similar situation to BC natives, it is quite possible that this history is reminiscent of BC native land claims negotiations.
