The new single release by Syren and Eagleheart Singers/Drummers is now available. "LET THEM LIVE" is a coming together of past and present, a collaboration of traditional and contemporary musical forms. This is a benefit recording in support of The Lubicon Cree of Northern Alberta who are embroiled in a fierce land claims struggle to preserve a centuries old culture and economy. If the Lubicon Nation should fail in their fight, the environmental ramifications are enormous and catastrophic: the last of a pristine wilderness would give way to a clear-cut wasteland of oil gas and pulp production, leaving a community of people destroyed -- stripped of their identity and means of survival -- a significator of our own fate if we allow the natural kingdoms to be violated and basic human rights to be ignored. In keeping with the enduring wisdom of Native thought, it is the intention of the composers to create an atmosphere of unity and solidarity, so necessary at this pivot point in Lubicon history/human history -- each culture working together for a distinct, peaceful and fruitful co-existence.
